Eagle River Report - Mar 2, 2021

March 2, 2021

FLOW: 76.0 cfs (Avon Water Treatment Plant)

WATER CONDITIONS: Clear

FOOD SOURCES PRESENT: Midges and… Midges.

THE LOW DOWN: Recently we have been seeing warmer temperatures, more movement from fish and finally some more open water! Using small midges and baetis patterns on a nymph rig seems to be the choice for the Eagle. If the bite has been getting slow fishing in the deeper runs try to move into the shallower water..

Appropriate Patterns

DRIES: Para Adams 18-22, Stacker BWO 18-22, Griffith Gnat 18-22

NYMPHS: Zebra Midge olive/black 18-22, Pheasant Tails 14-20, Rainbow Warrior 16-20, JuJu midge 18-22,Two Bit Hooker 18-22, Barr Emerger 16-20, Copper John red and copper sz 18, Flash Egg 18.

STREAMERS: Thin Mint, Motor Oil, Natural Sculpin, Baby Gongas

HINTS: Warmer days have been showing more hatching midges.. If the fish aren't eating deeper, shallow up those nymph rigs and see if they're suspended.
