Eagle River Fishing Report 11/22/2021
Eagle River Report
November 22nd, 2021
FLOW: 44.9 cfs (Avon Water Treatment Plant)
WATER CONDITIONS: Low, Slow, and very clear
FOOD SOURCES PRESENT: Midges, BWO, Caddis
THE LOW DOWN: Early winter conditions are upon us. The Eagle is low and clear, and fishing well. Fish are moving towards the slower deeper water, feeding on BWOs, Midges, and cased caddis. Hatches are sporadic, so nymphing and streamer fishing have been our go to.
Appropriate Patterns
DRIES: Parachute Adams 16-24, Morgan’s Midge 22-24, Film Critic 18-22
NYMPHS: Frenchies 16-20, Zebra Midge (Black, Red, Grey) 18-24, Pheasant Tail 16-20, Pat’s Rubber Legs 10-14, Prince Nymph 16-20
STREAMERS: Slump Buster, Thin Mint, Baby Gonga
HINTS: Cast streamers at the top of fast runs that spill into slow deep runs, instead of across the river. Let them get down deep, and swing in the tail outs. Hold the streamer in place with small “jigging” type action to taunt fish into eating.
